How To

How to Make an Event Go Viral!

You created this new awesome event or giveaway, the graphics look great, the copy reads perfectly, but no one has discovered it yet.
How do you make the event BLOW UP and make it a huge success?

1. Find another brand/influencer to partner with

When looking for partners, but sure to see both sides of the equation.  The partnership should be equally beneficial and it probably should not be with a direct competitor, to avoid conflict of interest.
For example, since we offer social media marketing software, we likely wouldn’t want to partner with Buffer, a direct competitor.
Instead, we partnered with KingSumo, giveaway software.
While there’s no direct connection between giveaway software and SMM software, we’re both targeting the same vertical, SMBs, so it makes sense to partner up.

Landing the Partnership

If you’re reaching out to an influencer or company that you don’t have a personal connection with:

  1. Keep it brief
  2. Show clear value props
  3. Be explicit about what you need from them

Just like that, we landed a partnership with Noah Kagan, major influencer in the marketing space with over 60k followers.

Think Outside the Box

We were promoting a giveaway (2 tickets to SummitLive conference in San Francisco).
We decided to reach out to the Director of Event Marketing for SummitLive to see if they would want to share the giveaway with their followers.

3. Set up Reminders

People are forgetful.  They may have seen your post for the event, but didn’t have the time to take action right then and there.
Remind them using a drip campaign on both social media and via email.
We use Cloud Campaign for social media drip campaigns.
